I'm really excited to be playing with the Baltimore Choral Arts Society in their performance of Mendelssohn's Elijah this weekend. My teacher from high school usually plays with them, but she opted not to this time because of a hurting back.
It's a beautiful piece, and the choirs (the Choral Arts Society is joied by the Peabody Children's Chorus) sound fantastic! It has been an enormous blessing to be part of such a fine orchestra as well.
In Elijah, one of my favorite parts is when the seraphims are calling to each other (in this case the two choirs) "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty!" The children's choir is off in the wings, so it really does sound like angels singing back and forth. Maybe this is just a piece of what Heaven will sound like:)
