random gems

I can't believe it's been more than a whole month since my last post. Every day brings a new adventure. Aspen is a beautiful place, and what makes it so great is the little things, the seemingly insignificant parts of each day. They turn out to be little gems that one comes across and treasures on a dreary day.

A partial list:
enjoying a great view and amazing food after playing for a house concert benefitting my school.
photo shoot with an excellent camera after said concert (pictures yet to come)
playing with dogs at the local animal shelter
trips to find hot chocolate
free gondola rides up Aspen Mountain

late night chats with friends
opportunities to babysit adorable little kids (including a four-month-old)
ushering the operas and seeing my friends perform lead roles
random, funny signs at the cafeteria

sharing jokes with fellow ushers
studio dinners
experiencing God's grace daily in nature, people, music, and His Word
hiking with friends that came to visit for the day
random and usually spontaneous dinners out

I could go on, but I'm not sure I could ever stop.

On another note, thank you so much for all your prayers and sympathy regarding my grandmother. The outpouring of love I have experienced from everyone- online, over the phone, and here at Aspen- has been overwhelming. Each and every one of you is a precious gift from God, and I'm so grateful that you are in my life! Thank you again. I would love to know how your summers are going; please feel free to leave me a comment! :)
